Eurovision Opening Ceremony 2025

Broadcast on:
13 May, 2025

Our intrepid reporter Gabe Bullard ventured out to the Eurovision Opening Ceremony on Sunday. From Marktplatz to Messeplatz, Basel's streets were packed with revellers. The parade featured contestants riding in the old trams, with marching bands and Fasnacht groups in-between, bringing local flavour to this year's international competition.

Along the parade route, we met fans from Germany, Latvia, Cyprus, and Greece who were all cheering on their own countries and thanking Nemo for winning last year and bringing Eurovision to Basel.

Eurovision parties and events continue throughout the week, leading up to the finals on Saturday. If you don't know where to go or what to do, just head to Barfüsserplatz or the Messe (known this week as Eurovision Village) and follow the music. More info on the programme is here. Listen to Gabe Bullard's report here.
