EHC Basel defeated EHC Brandis in overtime
Brandis struck first with a goal after 5 minutes into the opening period. EHC Basel went on a scoring spree shortly thereafter.
Basel’s Dimitri Malgin tied the match one minute later after an assist from Michael Maurer.
Rony Spreyermann added a second goal for Basel two minutes later thanks to an assist from Marco Vogt.
Timothè Tuffet increased the lead a minute later with a goal.
Malgin and Maurer each scored a goal before the first period expired and left Basel with a 5-1 lead.
EHC Brandis chipped away at the lead by scoring two goals in the second period.
The team scored twice more in the third period. One of those goals came five minutes before time expired. Neither team was able to break the tie and the match went into overtime.
Sandro Brügger scored an unassisted goal 4 minutes into the extra time and gave Basel the 6-5 victory.
EHC Basel is currently in ninth place in their division.
