Our first guest this week was Matthias van Stipriaan, founder of the School of Rock Basel. As the name implies, its focus is on rock and pop, among other genres, and you can learn to play electric guitar, piano, drums, electric bass, keyboards and more. Aside from music lessons, the school offers workshops as well as practice rooms for bands.

The Gay Beggars are an independent and non-professional theatre company specialised in the production of plays written in English. Founded by students of the Department of English at the University of Basel in the early 40s, the Gay Beggars have managed to keep up the long-standing tradition of staging at least one play a year.

Chris Morton is the keyboard player and lyricist for prog rock band The Synod, based in London and Basel. The band have released new songs on Jango. We heard two tracks: Sinister Ministers and Continuum. Chris came into the studio to talk about prog rock, the music business, and getting a live band together.

The International Women's Institute Basel (IWI) is hosting the Basel Bake Off, a cake and pudding competition, on Saturday, April 1st! Members of IWI and the public enter their finest home-baked goods to go under the scrutiny of the judges at 10:30. There will be cakes galore for the public to enjoy.
