Broadcast on:
14 February, 2023

Basel Fasnacht is just around the corner! The carnival runs from Monday, 27 February to Wednesday, 1 March 2023. Go into town on Monday for the 4 am Morgestraich – highly recommended if you've never been; or have a look at the Fasnacht parades on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, the lantern exhibition on the Münsterplatz, and children's Fasnacht on Tuesday. On this week's show, we talked about what to do and see at Fasnacht - listen to the segment here. For more information, check out our Fasnacht event page.

And if you've ever wondered what a Clique, Gugge, Schnitzelbangg or Larve is, then head over to our handy Fasnacht dictionary!

This week, Ian the Gadget Guru reminisced about "Retro Tech", took a look at technology changing your cinema experience, and needed help with puzzles (...oh boy does he need help!):

Image3D is a professional service that will take your snaps and turn them into stereoscopes in the style of the ViewMaster – which you probably remember if you grew up in the 60s and 70s. Originally, these popular devices were sold with still-life story versions of your favorite Disney movies, and other children-oriented images mounted on circular card stock. Repurposed now for corporate events, family reunions or just about any photo-worthy events, this service provides an amazing keepsake with serious retro-cred.

The Gadget Guru also shared his love of jigsaw puzzles in his downtime. One of his favorite puzzle makers is YouTube host Karen Puzzles, whose latest confounding puzzle inspiration is available on Amazon from global puzzle manufacturer, Ravensburger. And, just in case you find yourself too frustrated to finish assembling all those pieces, the Gadget Guru has an automated solution: JigZilla the Puzzle Solving Robot! Listen to the segment here.
