The Upper Strata - Blues Circle Sessions and Concerts; New Swiss Post Stamps

Broadcast on:
15 February, 2022

The Upper Strata are a folktronica duo who blend acoustic songwriting with electronic beats and interwoven vocal harmonies. The duo's most recent album is "Luap Elk", a multi-layered musical journey inspired by Paul Klees' life and work. The Upper Strata's Johnny and Reg joined us on the show in 2020 and in 2021 to tell us about the album. Now Johnny is back to talk Blues Circle Sessions (join the session this Thursday, 17th February at Zum Eck), folktronica and their upcoming tour. Don't miss the kick-off concert this Saturday, 19th February, at Zum Eck! Listen to the interview here.

In completely different news, and handy to know: on 1 January 2022, Swiss Post increased their price for sending a letter (up to 100g) within Switzerland from CHF 1.00 to CHF 1.10 for A-Post, and from CHF 0.85 to CHF 0.90 for B-Post. Prices for letters abroad have also increased by CHF 0.30 in most cases. For example, for a standard letter up to 20g, the price has gone from CHF 1.50 to 1.80 within Europe and from CHF 2.00 to 2.30 for the rest of the world. The price for parcels, however, will remain unchanged in order to support Swiss companies during these difficult times. The increase in price means that the post office is now selling (cute) 5-, 10- and 20-Rappen stamps to bridge the gap between previous and new stamp prices. If you have some stamps left over from last year, be sure to stop by the post office and purchase some of the "bridging-the-gap" stamps to make up for the difference.
