Broadcast on:
26 January, 2016

Richard Wherlock is the choreographer and director of Ballett Basel. Our Arts Correspondent Kevin Richmond managed to catch up with Mr. Wherlock, talking to him about his latest production TEVYE. With 15 years at the helm, what is it that motivates and keeps driving him forward? Richard tells us about his hopes and plans for the ongoing success of Ballett Basel and the preparations for his upcoming 15-year celebrations. Today was part 1 of the interview - the conversation with Richard Wherlock continues in next week's show!

We also had Lydia Zimmer in the studio, director of Literaturecho, a platform which organises all manner of literature and book-related events. One of those events is a reading retreat: a whole weekend devoted reading your books and eating good food. What's not to like? The retreat is taking place from 11 - 13 March 2016 and will be in English. You can register for the weekend here. The retreat includes two nights in a lovely renovated farm house near Lucerne, three meals a day, a welcome drink, and more, at CHF 420.- for a double room, plus CHF 40.- for a single.

English Show news correspondent Andrew Craven was on hand this past week in London for a debate organized by the British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce. The debate focused on the upcoming referendum promised by UK Prime Minister David Cameron to decide if the UK should stay in or leave the EU. Andrew's reportage from the debate covered the pros and cons and how trade would be affected between Switzerland and the UK by either outcome of the proposed referendum. He talked to David Marsh, Co-founder of the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (pro) and Stuart Wheeler, former treasurer of the UK Independence Party (con).
