Basel Chamber Voices, Nepal Fundraiser, Fitting Wines for Summer

Broadcast on:
9 June, 2015

This week, we had tenor Mark Vincent and bass Owain Wadham in the studio to tell us about Basel Chamber Voices' newest project. In its current season, Basel Chamber Voices presents the programme “Canti Amorosi”, a comprehensive and charming journey through the oldest and most celebrated feeling of all times. The choir offers several examples of early music expressions of love from around Europe and also includes pieces by Joseph Rheinberger, Robert Schumann, Gardel, Elgar and even The Beatles' “Can’t Buy Me Love”. Performances are on June 13 in Lörrach and on June 19 in Riehen. Listen to the interview again here.

David Gunzenhauser was in the studio to talk about a series of Nepal Fundraisers that he is organising for his Nepalese friend Gelu and his family.  David has known Gelu since 2007 and over the years they have become good friends. When the earthquake happened on April 25, David immediately got involved and organized an event to raise money for Gelu and his family. The following events are in progress: FrontOfBicycle is running an online art auction, and David has organized a raffle which will take place this Sunday, 14th June, from 2-4 p.m. at Flannagans Irish Pub in Basel. The Raffle tickets are only FIVE BUCKS, and you could win massages, airplane tours of Basel, and other amazing prizes generously donated by friends and supporters of David and his cause. You can track the progress of Gelu and his family, the fundraiser and its progress on Facebook. Listen to the interview again here.

The temperature is getting warmer, the days are getting longer - which means summer is on its way. To get you into the seasonal mood, Simon Hardy, founder and qualified wine expert at Fitting Wines, recommends four great wines from around the world: one white, one rosé, one red and one lightly sparkling sweet wine. Listen to Simon's segment again here.
