Money Logging, Pre-Fasnacht Show Drummeli

Broadcast on:
3 February, 2015

Lukas Straumann is the author of the controversial new book Money Logging: On the Trail of the Asian Timber Mafia. Money Logging investigates the massive destruction of the Borneo rainforest by Malaysian loggers. Historian and campaigner Lukas Straumann goes in search not only of the lost forests and the people who used to call them home, but also the network of criminals who have earned billions through illegal timber sales and corruption. He told The English Show about the book and its reception around the world. Listen to the interview again here.

If you want to know more, the launch of Money Logging will be in Basel at the Bider und Tanner bookstore on Monday, February 9, at 7.30pm. The event is free, in English, with an author signing. We have one book to give away - write to us at info@theenglishshow.com or on Facebook if you're interested.

Our Arts Correspondent Kevin Richmond talked to Bettina Dieterle, director of the Drummeli. The Drummeli is a pre-Fasnacht show that happens every year at the Musical Theatre Basel. This year there will be performances from the 7th to the 13th of February. But what exactly does it involve? Have a listen to the interview again to find out.
