Sue Style, Best Sights To See - Messe Basel, and Give-Aways!

Broadcast on:
23 September, 2014

Today's show was all about treats - we've got things to eat and sights to see (and loads of give-aways)!

Our food guru Sue Style came into the studio to tell us about the Baselbieter Genusswoche - from 18th to 28th September it's going to be locavore heaven as the Basel region puts on a whole series of events to promote local food and drinks. There'll be special menus at a number of restaurants, with all foods sourced locally, sessions for you to learn how to make pasta with locally milled flours and a fun event at the Frenkenbundten School House in Liestal with market stalls and cooking demos. Lots coming up this weekend, so sign up and get ready to enjoy the Genusswoche (the Tasty Week) in our neighbourhood.

For more info, check out the schedule the Baselbieter Genusswoche website.

Are you new to Basel? Or an old hand at navigating your way through the city? No matter how long you've lived here, there may be places you haven't yet explored. In our new series Best Sights To See, we've teamed up with Basel Tourism's tour guide Madeleine Wamister to take a look at our fair city's many offerings. Today, we looked at Messe Basel, which is the biggest and most important exhibition site in Switzerland and one of the most significant in Europe. It hosts international fairs such as Art Basel and Baselworld - but that's not all. Listen to our podcast to find out more!

Our music today reflected new(ish) releases from the last few months. We played songs by By The Sea, Grumbling Fur, Hercules & Love Affair (featuring John Grant), Lana Del Rey, Moksha Medicine, SBTRKT (featuring Ezra Koenig), The Crystal Method, The Family Rain and Zola Jesus.
