Rob Stuart, Sue Style

Broadcast on:
6 May, 2014

Rob Stuart came into the studio to tell us all about current cinema releases - plus the Cannes Film Festival. Cannes Film Festival runs from May 14 for ten days. Grace de Monaco, starring Nicole Kidman, will be the opening film at the festival. Rob also talked about Johnny Depp-starrer Transcendence, a film about Artificial Intelligence, and Snowpiercer, starring John Hurt and Chris Evans, another sci-fi film set in the future. Stadtkino is showing the famous jungle romp The African Queen, (1951) directed by John Huston and starring Humphrey Bogart (his only Oscar) and Katherine Hepburn - a great classic. Kult.Kino Atelier has a couple of interesting films coming up: Richard Linklater's Boyhood, a British drama called Locke and Fruitvale Station, set in Oakland.

Sue Style was also with us and she came by with an armload of herbs. Parsley, Tarragon, Thyme, Chive and Lovage were the featured edibles this week, and the studio smelled like the prep station in a restaurant kitchen (enjoy the photo on The English Show's Facebook Page). Sue also helped us with the German, French and Swiss German names for the herbs. Make sure to enjoy these perennials while they're in season from your garden or featured in your favorite dish at a restaurant.

Our music theme this week featured new songs released in the last couple of months: tracks by Desperate Journalist, Hamilton Leithauser, Lykke Li, Mando Diao, Slow Club, The Black Keys, The Tapestry, Trust, and Tweens.
