Artist Larry McLaughlin - November 2021

American artist and sculptor Larry McLaughlin lives and works in France and the United States and has strong ties to Switzerland, often exhibiting in various parts of the country. McLaughlin began working in sculpture while studying at the University of California at Santa Cruz in the 1970s. Later he worked in London, painting and printmaking. In 1988, he completed studies at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris.

He most recently exhibited his sculptures at openArt in Roveredo in Ticino in October 2021; Klein openArt in Obfelden near Zurich will be up next in November 2021. From June to October 2022, Waldenburg in Basel-Landschaft will host the «Ville des Arts» Biennale, where McLaughlin will be showing some of his sculptures. In our interview, he talked about his connection to Basel, off-the-beaten-track art, and using crazy materials like concrete.
