ACT Charity Spokeperson's Bios & Event Information

ACT (Act Compassionatley Together) Charities'  Claudia Giessler was born in Germany, lived most of her life in the Netherlands and since 2004, lives in Basel.  Next to her career as a medical doctor in clinical rehabilitation, she worked in health education, volunteered in Africa, supported new expat families in settling in the Basel region and since 2014 she is member of the ‘Round Table Integration’  of the Department of Security of the canton of Basel-Landschaft. As a member of Zonta, an international NGO with representation in the United Nations,  she is actively  involved in projects to empower women and girls. In 2013, following her passion to support vulnerable children in developing countries, she co-founded the charity organisation Act Passionately Together, aptly abbreviated to ACT. With the proceeds of the funds raised since then, ACT has established water pumps in a Cameroon village so that kids do not have to walk  to haul water from the river 5 km away, established warm water in a shelter for abused and abandoned children in Peru, and refurbished a school for street kids in Colombia.

Neenu Kaul, originally from India,  has  for the past 12 years, followed her passion for Indian dance and culture and organized and choreographed  several Bollywood  shows in Basel.  Through her shows she has raised funds for the Make a Wish Foundation, Switzerland ,  Apne Aap Women Worldwide, and the Chinmaya Foundation of India.  In 2013 she co -founded  Desi Dhamaal, an organization that serves  the growing Indian population in Basel and volunteers her time in organizing and choreographing their annual Diwali event.  

Ana Ivette Pulido Bushell was born in Bogota Colombia, and moved to England at the age of 19 to pursue teaching and linguistic studies.  She has lived and worked in the UK, Spain, USA and Switzerland, teaching in international schools, working as an interpreter, founding a relocation company in the USA, and balancing this with being a mother to her children. This international experience across all levels of the socio-economic pyramid has inspired her to be a change agent for underserved communities and people. Ana became involved with the charity “Children Change Colombia” defending the rights of children at risk in Colombia and was also involved with the Latin American women’s society supporting the rights of immigrants.  She is a Co-founder of ACT Compassionately Together, passionate about challenging the status quo to impact inequity and poverty, especially for women and children. ACT is a non-profit organization raising funds and implementing projects in emerging countries. The focus is to improve welfare and education

Their upcoming event, "Hollywood meets Bollywood" a spectacular and colourful Bollywood show choreographed by Neenu Kaul, amazing tap dances by the Crazy Feet Company, energetic hip-hop dancing by Project X and singing and violin medleys to Hollywood favourites. The evening will be completed with disco dancing with DJ Ray, a photo booth, and the gin bar. Ticket price: 75.00 CHF including show, a welcome drink and finger food during the evening. Donations also possible. All proceeds will go to the organization Citta a non-profit organization based in the USA founded by Michael Baude. CITTA’S objectives focus on health, education and economic development, which synergize with ACT’S purpose. This project aims to develop an innovative school/cooperative in order to provide young girls with an education in combination with a women’s economic development program. The school will be built in a desert site in Rajasthan. ACT’S goal is to raise 10,000 CHF to build one of the classrooms at the school. Listen to the segment here.
