Where were you born, and where have you lived so far?
I have spent most of my adult life living in central London.
How long have you been living in the region?
I moved to Basel in January 2010, so not that long in the scheme of things, but feels even shorter than it is, as I keep on discovering new things and places in the area.
Why Basel?
To be completely frank, it was with work, I was given a choice of places to move with my job, I picked Switzerland partly because of the winter sports element and its connections to Europe, but after arriving, I find very little reason to go elsewhere, there is always something going on and to do! I find the local people great to be around.
What's your favourite place for a coffee or drink with friends in this region?
I have completely fallen in love with KA Bar in Kaserne, it has to be one of the best places to go with friends and in Summer the outdoor terrace is fantastic to sit, chill and have a drink. Although I really enjoy just sitting by the Rhine in summer too.
Favourite bands or singers?
My music tastes varies wildly. I love things from vocal trance and dub step through to modern piano pieces. I really enjoy seeing local bands and artists, which there are many! However I really have a passion for electronic chill out music and that is mostly what you hear in the car with me!
Where's your favourite place in Switzerland?
I really enjoy going to the alps and spending times in places like Interlaken, but really like hanging out in Basel and the local area / over the boarders into France and Germany as well as going to Zürich.
What is the most important advice you would give to someone new to Basel or Switzerland?
Take things easy and relax, life is slower here and far more laid back – which I really like! Also remember that shops are not open here on a Sunday, something which completely shocked me, but now have come to appreciate especially as almost all the leisure based attractions are open on Sundays.
What languages do you speak?
English, English, English and English – lots of diversity!
What is your favorite word in Swiss German or French
Chuchichäschtli.
