Alex Frei put Basel on board after taking advantage of a penalty shot 19 minutes into the match.

Lausanne battled back and came close to drawing the match, but were unable to find the net.

Olivier Schäublin and Stefan Schnyder each scored a goal within a span of nine minutes.

The Sharks are enjoying a three game winning streak.



Basel's tennis hero defeated Juan Martin del Potro in straight sets during the quarterfinals.

The 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 victory was a rematch of the 2009 US Open title. Del Potro defeated Federer in that contest.

This was Federer's 1000^th match of his illustrious career and he dominated from start to finish.

Federer is looking to add another career milestone. Should he win this year's Australian Open, he will overtake Jimmy Connor's total of 233 Grand Slam victories.

However, Rafael Nadal stands in his way. The two will meet in the semi finals.



Neither team was able to score in the first two periods thanks to strong defense.

Basel's Dario Gartmann broke things open in the third period with a goal thanks to assists from Olivier Schäublin and Justin Mapletoft.

The Lions roared back and Sami El Assaoui drew the match shortly before the end of regulation.

Basel's Julien Bonnet scored the game winner 45 seconds into overtime.

This victory keeps the Sharks in 7^th place of the NLB division, however the team is only 3 points away from 6^th place.



The Starwings were off their game in this lopsided contest.

The first quarter set the tone for the rest of the match. That was when Geneva outscored Basel 24 to 9.

Top scorers Miroslav Petkovic and Tony McCrory were held to 12 and 7 points respectively.

Brandon Jenkins was unable to play because of an injury and Jaraun Burrows sat out due to an illness.

This loss keeps the Starwings in 6^th place of the NLA Division.



This is a match the Starwings want to forget.

The Starwings' defense limited Vacallo to 10 points in the first quarter, however Basel's offense managed only 5.

Vacallo outscored the Starwings in every quarter and almost doubled the score in the third.

Jaraun Burrows led the Starwings with 17 points, and he was the only player on the team who registered double digits.

Brandon Jenkins was scratched from the game due to an injury.
