Football News – FC Basel defeat Lausanne 2 goals to 0

Alex Frei put Basel on board after taking advantage of a penalty shot 19 minutes into the match.

Lausanne battled back and came close to drawing the match, but were unable to find the net.

Genseric Kusunga increased Basel's lead by scoring at the 71 minute mark, thanks to an assist from Radoslav Kovac.

This victory keeps FC Basel in the lead of the Super League Division by six points.

Hockey News – Basel loses first game of the postseason, 6-0

The Basel Sharks got bitten by Langenthal in a big way.

Both teams kept each other scoreless in the first period.

Langenthal's Marco Gruber opened things up by scoring at the 36 minute mark in the second period.

Teammate Yves Müller added a goal four minutes later.

The third quarter saw Langenthal pour four more goals as the Sharks were unable to answer.

The Sharks are down 1 game to zero in the quarterfinals.

Hockey News La Chaux de Fonds defeat the Basel Sharks 3 goals to 1.

The Sharks gave up a goal 18 minutes into the first period.

Dario Gartmann drew the match for Basel three minutes later.

Basel was unable to ride the momentum into the second period and allowed Benoit Mondou and Jeremy Gailland to score within 60 seconds of each other.

This loss keeps the Sharks winless against La Chaux de Fonds in the regular season.

Basel will face HC Ajoie tonight in the final game of the season. Should the Sharks win, they will advance to the postseason.

Football News – FC Basel and FC Sion play to a 0-0 draw.

FC Basel looked forward to increasing their lead in the standings with an easy victory over their ninth placed opponent.

Instead Basel walked away with a frustrating draw.

Both teams put on a defensive clinic for the 25 thousand-plus fans in St. Jakob Park.

Basel's Benjamin Huggel had two great chances to score however goalie Andris Vanins stopped both shots in specatcular fashion.

Alex Frei also had a chance to put Basel on the scoreboard, however Vanins blocked his shot as well.

This draw leaves FC Basel in first place of the Super League Division with a 7 point lead over Luzern.

Football News – FC Basel dominates Delemont 7-1

FC Basel is ready to continue the regular season.

Basels' Alex Frei scored the first goal after 35 minutes of action.

Marco Streller followed with a goal almost 20 minutes later.

Delemont was still in the match and kept pace with FC Basel thanks to a goal from Florian Hengel.

That would be the last time that Delemont would make any noise.

Stephan Andrist increased the lead for Basel at the 59 minute mark.

Teammates Alex Frei and Alexsander Dragovic each scored a goal shortly thereafter.

Jacques Zoua added to the barrage by scoring twice.

This was the final test match before the continuation of the normal season.

FC Basel currently leads the Super League Division with a 7 point lead over the second placed team, Luzern.

FC Basel will face Sion on February 5th.
