Artist Pedro Martin Rojo made his triumphant return to The English Show to promote his group exhibition ART FUSION at Gallery Katapult.  The show started November 9 and runs until November 15 and features the work of nine artists from around Switzerland.  If you are not familiar with Pedro's work, it tends to focus on facial portraits in bright vivid colors in sizes at least 1 meter square.  He works from his studio in Zürich which can be visited by pre-arranged appointed.

 

 

 

 

Also in the studio was Beat Jans (SP - Social Democratic Party delegate) and member of the Swiss national parliament (Nationalrat).  Two weeks ago, he was also elected to be one of the seven governors of Basel Stadt.  Four of the governors won outright during that election.  In that the remaining candidates did not gather the necessary 50% majority of the vote, in 3 weeks there will be a run-off for the remaining candidates to see who gathers enough votes to fill the remaining three seats.  We learned about the structure of the governing executives in Basel Stadt, their role and how they are elected.  In addition, Beat shared opportunities for non-citizen expats to have a voice in local politics.  Listen to his interview HERE.
