Dan Mangan, The New Beyond Chocolate, UNI-T Dancecompany, Tick Tacks Episode 6 - Integrating

Broadcast on:
16 April, 2019

Canadian musician Dan Mangan has released five albums since 2005, steadily building a fanbase around the world. Over the years, he has toured extensively in North America, Australia and Europe. He took a break from touring when he became a father, moving into writing soundtracks for feature films. Last year, he released his most recent album "More Or Less", a collection of delicate and occasionally danceable songs full of his trademark wit. Mangan and his band performed at the Between The Beats Festival in Lörrach on April 12th. Anna Wirz spoke to him before the show about hiccups, sing-alongs, and his new app Side Door, which brings together performers and hosts. Listen to the full-length interview here.

For nearly twenty years, Margaret Oertig-Davidson’s "Beyond Chocolate" has stood as the definitive guide to living and working among the Swiss. Now comes "The New Beyond Chocolate" an all-new edition, for an all-new Switzerland - a country that has firmly arrived in a multicultural, globalised age. Oertig-Davidson examines the Swiss through the eyes of hundreds of people who have lived and worked here, and her insight will help any reader gain respect and understanding for the diverse people that make up Swiss society. Margaret Oertig-Davidson came in to tell us more. Listen to the interview here.

After four successful dance productions, UNI-T Dancecompany is proud to present its newest piece: SUBWAYS. The many different styles of dance make this show very special. In the 1.5 hour-display, the artists will give you the best of Hip-Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, House and Acrobatics. On the 27th and 28th of April and the 3rd and 4th of May, the sinkhole will open in the Gundeli Casino and anyone who dares to enter will get the show of a lifetime. Get your tickets at Eventfrog right here. Tanja Häfliger and Steffi Mediavilla talked to us about the dance company, where the idea for SUBWAYS came from, and how intense the rehearsals have been. Listen to the interview here.

In episode 6, our Tick Tacks (Third Culture Kids) discuss their experiences integrating into a new culture, be it the culture of a new school or the culture of a new country. They give tips and tricks on how to integrate into Swiss society. Hosts: Sam Oliphant and Gwil Rowlands. Produced and edited by Dan Saks. Listen to the episode here.
