2010. 04.04, April 20- Carlo Mombelli Project Offers Innovative Jazz Soundscape At Birdseye

The Carlo Mombeli Project, featuring South African Jazz composer and bass player Carlo Mombelli and talented students from the Jazz Hochschule in Basel, treated audiences Tuesday, April 20  to a highly professional, dynamic, and creative evening of improvisational jazz at the Birdseye Jazz Club.  The ensemble of vocalists and musicians featured several of Mombelli's compositions as a starting point, as well as new pieces  developed during  a series of workshops here in  April.  Alternatively playful and thoughtful, the innovatve music was  a treat for the ears and the soul. Carlo Mombelli's court-jester on-stage persona continued to delight.  Do catch them at the Birdeseye, Tuesday, April 27.  Mombelli's professional ensemble- The Prisoners of Strange European Edition- will also be at the Birdseye, April 29 and 30 and at Roche and Jazz at the Tinguely Friday, April 30 at 4pm-7pm offering highlights from their new CD.
