Centrepoint - Maryann Barnacle and David Ruiz - April 2022

Did you know that over 40 nationalities are represented at Centrepoint? 25% are Swiss (either born Swiss or naturalised); 49% of members do not have English as their native language; and all nationalities are welcome.

Centrepoint is a well-established English-speaking community located at the Lohnhof in the heart of Basel. Its aim is to provide its members with a sense of belonging both to Centrepoint and the Basel region by offering participation in a diverse range of activities and social events. There are conversation groups in various languages; evening talks; an Artwall where international artists present their work; monthly Sunday walks, Saturday birdwatching trips, and much more.

You're very welcome to come along to one of the weekly Friday coffee mornings or the Thursday monthly apéro or pop in during the club's opening hours when a front desk volunteer is available to chat (opening hours Tuesday to Friday 09:00-13:00; Thursdays until 17:00; also open on the 1st Saturday of the month 11:00-13:00).

Maryann Barnacle is the new president of Centrepoint, and David Ruiz is its new vice president. They told us about all the activities on offer, what the last two years have been like, and how with the easing of restrictions, they look forward to welcoming back existing members and encouraging potential members to seek them out. You can contact Centrepoint through email (info[at]centrepoint.ch), Facebook or Instagram.
