Agatha Christie's world famous, „And Then There Were None“ will come alive in the Gymnasium at the Münster next week. Ten people are invited to a fun get together however strange happenings take place. Murderous happenings! This production promises to keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire duration. At 10.00 am Dara Molloy, Celtic Monk from the Aran Islands begins with a revealing view of how the Irish developed their own brand of Christianity which differed profoundly from the Roman model. The Celtic christian monks dressed differently, worshipped differently and viewed their surroundings differently from those following the Roman model. They were eventually suppressed by the Roman model in the 1200s, though Christianity today would be a lot different if the Celtic and not the Roman model has survived. His book, 'The Globalisation of God' presents a thought provoking look at the Christian model as we know it . 13.00 Ease into another world as the steel strings of Paul Dooley's medieval harp made from traditional willow wood set the scene for a presentation of words and pictures by Hans Neukom on some of Ireland's earliest monastic sites and buildings.  In German,  though Hans is a fluent English speaker and submitted his Master's thesis on the subject of early monastic settlements. 15.00 Maedhbh (pronounced Mayve) Nic Dhonnchadha examines the life and influence of Ireland's greatest female saint: Brigid. February is Brigid's month, and this promises to be an insightful hour or so as we discover more about the woman who among other things founded her own art school in the 5th century.... Maedhbh  lectures in University College Galway and submitted her PhD thesis on the life of Brigid, so you're almost certain to pick up some interesting bits of info .. 17.00 For those interested, you can learn to make the ancient Brigid's Cross from rushes, as has been made for the last 15 centuries in Ireland. This cross is   traditionally made on the first day of February and having one in your house is said to protect it from fire. All materials supplied. In typical style, the programme  will reflect the events of the day, in what will certainly be a highly entertaining evening. And if you want a taste of Fasnacht before the actual event, there's a staggering number of pre-Fasnacht shows happening on various stages around town. Admittedly, you'll get more out of the shows if you understand Swissgerman - Schnitzelbängg (singing verses in Swissgerman) and short skits populate the shows - but there's also lots of drumming and fifing and singing to get you in the Fasnacht mood. Some of the drum and fife groups are mindbogglingly good. You can find a list of events here.
