2010.07.08 Lectures at the Basel Peace Academy

Wednesday seminars at the World Peace Academy in Basel cover a variety of topics related to building peace.  Seminars are  in English, open to the public and admission is free of charge. They take place  Wednesdays from 18:15 to 19:45 at Gueterstr. 81, 4053 Basel.

2010.08.07 Artwall Photo Exhibit by Alex Kaeslin- "Light in the Dark" at Centerpoint Opens September 8th

CENTREPOINT AUTUMN EXHIBITION is pleased to present Swiss-Australian artist Alex Kaeslin's "LIGHT IN THE DARK"- an exhibition of photographs highlighting his journey from Australia to Switzerland via VW Bus, Camel, hitchiking, etc. from 2006-2008.

Re: his work, Kaeslin, writes:

"Since arriving home I have exhibited my work three times and started a photographic company called "We Shoot U Photography" with my friend and fellow Photographer, Susan Brunner. This year I won the first prize in the Paris Prix de la Photographie. The photographs I am showing at Centrepoint are a few of my favorites from our journey which I hope you will all enjoy as much as I do"

2010.09.01 Adolph Zinnstag Sr's Classic Volume of Short Stories Re-Issues. Musical Ferry Vernissage on the Rhine September 8th

Join classical musician Dolf Zinnstag, Jr, Wednesday on the St. Alban Ferry, for a fun-filled  re-issue party for his grandfather's classic book of short stories about Basel in the 1920's, written in Basel- Deutsch, originally published in the early 1950's. 

Zinstagg, Sr. was a celebrated goldsmith and violinist in Basel, and lived for many years on the Birs.

The evening will commence at 7:30 on the Ferry, where excerpts of the  book will be read  (and translated!).

Admission is 7 Chf.  Copies of the book will be available for purchase.  And live music and snacks will be offered.  The volume is available at Bider and Tanner.       For further information call 079 659 6366

2010.09.01 Garden Art/ Architecture Event September 11 at Wenkenpark in Reihen: "An Afternoon in The Park"

Art, Film, Lectures, Food and Drink and more..... in the spectacular Wenkenpark Villas will take place the afternoon and evening of September 11, starting at 3pm.

August Kunzel, garden architect,  will offer a highly interesting  "tree to tree" tour of the flora at 6:00 pm, Jazz-Blood will perform at various venues throughout the day , and fine artist Ruth Handschin will present  her offbeat and amusing take on Louis XIV, biodiversity, design, and undergarments, "Les Dessous du Roi", in the "Red Salon".  Much, much, more.

2010.09.05 "A month in the Park" - Radio X childrens' culture festival - Claramatte Basel

Radio X presents a month long Childrens Culture festival at the Claramatte in Klein Basel  - from mid august through mid September cultural activities for children youth and parents including cooking workshops, live haunted haus, stories told from around the world and many other activities.
