Berlin International Film Festival

Roy recently  attended the first weekend of the  60th Berlin film festival.  Despite sub-zero weather there were excellent film offerings, throngs of people attending screenings, lectures, and celebrity watching
(Rene Zellweger, Leo DiCaprio, Martin Scorcese, Ewan MacGregor, etc.).The winners of this year's Golden Bear were "Bal" from Turkey, and Roman Polanski as director for "The Ghost Writer"

Advice to non-VIPS, plan all travel and hotels 6 months ahead for best prices.  The city of Berlin offers excellent multi-day travel and museum passes.

Ticket offerings and program are posted about a month before the festival  (next February)
Some tickets are available for purchase online several weeks before the
festival.  Full information.   www.berlinale.de.
