Avatar

One of, if not the,  most costly films ever made, - at a reputed spend of 500m Dollars. Avatar is set in the year 2154 on the visually stunning planet called Pandora. The story is of a future, mythical world inhabited by ten foot tall blue people called the Na’vi. Pandora’s been colonised by earthlings hell-bent on mining the rare mineral that alone can save Earth. All looks great and goes stunningly well until the mining company deploy military force. The picture is brilliant and breathtaking but it can appear a bit too long and very dependent on computers and technical 3D photography. James Cameron is the famous film director responsible for 'Titanic' , ‘True Lies’ and  ‘Terminator’, among a few.  He got his first job in 1980 as art director on Roger Corman's 'Battle Beyond the Stars' which was a rework of ‘The Magnificent Seven’ in space.
