Los Abrazos Rotos

Los Abrazos Rotos is the new release from Almodovar and like a lot of his 30 or so films this is a strong story about passion and tragic circumstances, - a mirror some say on his own life and his loves. The now super famous Hollywood actress Penelope Cruz plays Lena, an actress worshipped by director Mateo Blanco. The film is partly about the making of film and is also a tribute to the Cinema with acknowledgements especially to Hitchcock and to his own film catalogue, including the film Woman on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. According to a recent press interview Almodovar believes that we are living in a time of ‘huge scandal’ but feels that Cinema is not generating controversy anymore.
