Julie & Julia

Amy Adams directs a sensation, Julie and Julia, surrounding the publication of a best selling cook book Mastering the Art of French Cooking starring Meryl Streep. About 50 years since its publication in the US there’s never been a cook book like it, it was, and still is, a sensation. Although the US author Julia Child died five years ago, Meryl Streep's performance has brought the book back into the shops and into the best seller lists. About 22’000 copies are shifting a week according to the press. Julia Child learned her craft at the Cordon Bleu Cooking School in Paris and set herself the goal of introducing the delights of French cooking to the 'servantless cooks' of the US. Obviously the Art of French Cooking is not strictly in-line with the currently diet-obsessed US; check out the recipes full of butter, salt and goose fat.
